Are You Passionate About God?

Psa 42:1-2 “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” Other verses of Scripture that have the same sentiment include: Psa 63:1, 84:2, 119:20, 143:6, & Isa 26:8-9. What these verses have in common is this: they are the cries from a heart that is passionate for God. What are you passionate about? Does your soul long for God? Does it cry after Him? Can you truly say that a day spent with Him is better than thousands spent somewhere else (Psa 84:10)? Are you passionate for your God?
As blood bought, blood washed, children of God Almighty, we should be the most passionate people in the world. Unfortunately, The Bible tells us in Revelation 3 that lukewarmness describes the church of the last days. Speaking in a church history sense, we might be the Laodicean church; but we don’t have to be Laodiceans! We can choose to praise our God! We can choose to seek His face! We can choose to be passionate about our Lord! We don’t have to be cold or lukewarm! We can be on fire! In the Name of Jesus, get on fire!
We should be always satisfied, but never content, in our relationship with God. What does this mean? It means God should always satisfy us, no matter what our circumstances may be. He should be our All in All. If we have God, we have everything; and He fills and satisfies us completely. However, we should never be content to simply maintain the status quo in our relationship with Him. We should always desire to know Him more tomorrow, than we do today. We should always hunger and thirst for a deeper relationship with Him.
Relationships must be cultivated. Cultivation takes time. Relationships just don’t happen. You must nurture them; you must put effort into them; you must make time for them. They are not automatic just because they’re your children, or your spouse, or a friend (Prov 18:24); nor is your relationship with God automatic, just because you got born-again. You must take time to seek His face; you must want to be with Him. When you make that decision, you will not be disappointed.
Do you want to spend time in the ? You need to get rid of your baggage. The High Priest in the Old Testament had to be totally pure before He could go into the Holy of Holies on the day of atonement (Lev 16). He had to confess everything, and be right with God. We need to do the same thing today. We need to renounce our sin, repent, and get prepared to go into the . Like the righteous king Josiah, we need to cleanse the land (of our hearts) of the idols, the groves, the high places, etc (2Chr 34:1-5).
When you are truly born again, you are in right standing with God in your spirit. You become the righteousness of God in Christ (2Cor 5:21). But your soul and flesh aren’t saved; and if you are yielding them as servants of unrighteousness, then you need to stop (Rom 6:12-14). Just like I don’t want to share my wife, but I want all of her; so God doesn’t want to share you: He wants all of you yielded to Him; spirit, soul, and body. Our God is jealous for us (Ex 34:14).
Judgment starts at the house of God, and we need to judge ourselves (1Pt 4:17, 1Cor 11:31). We need to be quick to obey the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Is the Holy Spirit speaking to you about something you need to deal with? Ask for forgiveness for not being quick to obey: then obey! God’s not holding back revival; He’s waiting for us to get right with Him! He’s waiting for us to hunger and thirst for Him! We need to be like Isaiah: “Here am I Lord, send me!” (Isa 6:8). We need to be like Ananias: Behold, I am here Lord! (Acts 9:10). Let us be God seekers! Let’s get passionate about God! Let’s get right with our Father! Let’s walk out in our soul and flesh, what has already happened in our spirits! Until next time, Rejoice in the Lord!
