The Bible

The Holy Bible is absolutely the greatest book ever written. It’s pages contain the greatest story that has ever been told. But be not deceived: this story is not some fictional tale invented by the minds of men. Rather, the Bible is the very Word of God. It is inspired (breathed) by God Himself. Holy men of God wrote it’s pages as The Spirit of God moved them (2Pt 1:19-21). It is Truth (Jn 17:17); It is light (Ps 119:105); It is more important than our food (Job 23:12); It is Spirit and Life (Jn 6:63); It never changes (Ps 119:89); It will never pass away (Mk 13:31); It is a fire, a hammer, and a two edged sword (Jer 23:29, Heb 4:12); God considers it more important than even His Name (Ps 138:2); It is perfect and incorruptible (Jam 1:25, 1Pt 1:23). It is what we should see (Pro 4:21); It is what we should hear (Pro 4:20); It is what we should think on (Josh 1:8); It is what we should speak (1Pt 4:11); It is what we should do (Jam 1:22). It is The Lord Jesus Christ Himself (Jn 1:1, 14).

The Bible is a collection of 66 books (39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament); written over 1500+ years by 40+ different authors in three different languages. It was written by kings, prophets, and priests; as well as farmers, fishermen, tax collectors, and physicians. Yet, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, it is a perfectly orchestrated and integrated message from God to man concerning creation, sin, judgment, mercy, salvation, redemption, grace, love, forgiveness, reconciliation, hope, and eternity; just to name a few.

The Word of God stands alone, and needs not the affirmation of men. Yet, archeology, science, history, and a host of others studies constantly affirm the Bible. In an age of relativism and “no absolutes”, the Bible still remains the same: The Absolute Truth. How do we know this? There are actually many reasons we could list; but only one is needed to answer the question. That answer is fulfilled prophecy. No other book in the world even starts to come close to The Bible in this area: not even close! The Bible has hundreds and hundreds of specifically fulfilled prophecies; written hundreds, and even thousand of years before they happened! Coincidence? Give me a break! Jesus Himself fulfilled over 300 prophecies in just His first coming (see Messiah Revealed in our favorite links page)! Now I’m not a betting man, but I know a sure thing when I see it!

Some Christians ask “How do I know The Bible I hold is really what God said?” Here are a couple of answers to that question: 1. God said He would preserve His Word, and that His Word is pure (Ps 12:6-7, Pro 30:5). Now if God said He would preserve His Pure Word forever, then that’s what He will do. 2. There are over 5,ooo copies of the  Greek Textus Receptus (also known as the Antiochian Text, Majority Text, Traditional Text, etc.); and that is the Text the New Testament of the King James Bible was translated from. The Old Testament of The KJB was translated from the faithful Masoretic Hebrew Text, which agrees with the Dead Sea Scrolls.

This brings me to my next point, which concerns what Bible we should use. I believe The King James Bible is the standard, and should be a Christian’s regular use Bible. I am not at all opposed to using other translations, concordances, lexicons, interlinear Bibles, or any other study aides that help you grow in Christ; in fact, I use these things myself. However, as with anything, there must be a standard. The Authorized Version is an eloquent masterpiece used by multiplied thousands of preachers, responsible for multiplied millions of souls being saved over the past 400 years. Jesus said that we can know a tree by it’s fruit; and just look at the fruit. The well known ministers and revivals of the past four centuries, certainly the previous three,  for the most part have this in common: The KJB.

The most important thing, is that you are reading The Bible everyday. Read, read, read. Be a Berean (Acts 17:10-11). Study, learn, grow, mature. Memorize the Scriptures. Get into a Bible study, go to church, and become a student of God’s Word. The entire Bible has 1,189 chapters. If you divide that by 365 days, you come up with 3.2. If you will read 3 chapters of The Bible a day, and 4 on Sunday; you will read through The Bible in a year. It’s that simple. Let’s pray:

Father in Heaven, I pray that each person who reads this will have a passion and desire to know more of You. I pray they would have a hunger for Your Word, and that they would purpose in their hearts to read Your Word everyday. I pray that they would read The Word with excitement and expectation; and that they would receive revelation knowledge every time they looked upon It’s pages. I know Lord that You will bless them in this righteous endeavor, according to Your Word. In the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus The Messiah, we pray it. Amen and Amen.
